Sewell Choice Raffle to Benefit Dallas Low-Income Residents With Critical Legal Needs

Dallas - The Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas have kicked off the annual “Equal Access to Justice Campaign,” which funds the Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program in providing free assistance to low-income residents with civil legal needs.
The Sewell Choice Raffle offers the winner a choice of three vehicles—an Infiniti FX, Lexus RX or a Cadillac SRX. First Runner-Up will receive airfare and 7-night stay at the Vancouver & Whistler Conde Nast Gold Hotels in British Columbia, Canada. A Second Runner-Up will receive a stainless steel watch donated by Bachendorf’s. Third runner up receives an Eagles Guitar signed by the legendary Eagles donated by Lisa Blue Baron.
Tickets are $100 each, and no more than 1,500 raffle tickets will be sold. The raffle drawing will be held January 15, 2011, at the Inaugural of the DBA’s 2011 President Barry Sorrels, a lawyer with the firm of Sorrels, Udashen & Anton, who specializes in criminal law. The event is sponsored by Sayles Werbner, PC.
The raffle winner does not need to be present to win.
The Dallas Volunteer Attorney Program is a joint initiative of the Dallas Bar Association and Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas. Recognized by the American Bar Association for its exemplary services, DVAP conducts neighborhood clinics each month at seven community locations, and provides a specialty clinic to assist the elderly with wills and other needs. DVAP recruits and trains volunteer attorneys, and provides staff support to the volunteers. Each year, DVAP provides free legal assistance to approximately 4,000 families in Dallas County. The Chair of this year’s Campaign is Jerry Alexander, a shareholder with Passman & Jones, P.C., and Co Vice-Chair are Rob Crain, of Crain Lewis, L.L.P., and Bradley C. Weber, a partner at Locke Lord Bissell & Liddell LLP.
