William Holston: Dallas' need to recruit even more pro bono work grows

Friday, October 23, 2009

Most lawyers aspire to be Atticus Finch, from Harper Lee's classic novel To Kill a Mockingbird. The fictional Finch said: "Our courts have their faults, as does any human institution, but in this country, our courts are the great levelers, and in our courts all men are created equal." I have practiced law in Texas courts for more than 28 years. And while I am very proud of our profession, Finch's ideal will not be fully realized until more lawyers take seriously the commitment to do pro Bono legal work.
